Fall Colors at The Crayon Box
Fall is upon us, and with the changing of the leaves comes the changing of wardrobes as well. This week I decided to take a trip to The Crayon Box to see how Andrews University’s most youthful—and arguably most fashionable—community members were representing themselves this October.
Head-coverings are a must this season, as exemplified by the three youngsters in this photo. Ethan (six, pre-kindergarten) is sporting a long, beige trench coat, layered with a “best player” orange tee and long-sleeve navy undershirt. On either side of Ethan stand models Hannah (four, pre-kindergarten) and Katie (four, pre-kindergarten). Katie opted for a clean and comfy #ootd with a bright pink parka and straight-cut plaid pants, while Hannah took a more earthy approach, with a fresh-and-cozy statement fur vest and blue oxford combo, topping the ensemble with a dark brown fedora. Each of these looks embrace the “less is more” mantra, with simple patterns and warm tones. It’s evident that the wild wardrobes of the sultry summer are out, and the coolness and organics of winter are officially in.
Our fourth model, Andrea (four, pre-kindergarten) joins the group for a romp in the leaves, and her vibrant yet warm and comfortable demeanor matches her clean-and-classic t-shirt, jean and hoodie line-up.
Each of these thoughtful youth strategically chose an outfit that represents his or her personality in a clean and stylish manner, but that also allowed for the flexibility that a childhood lifestyle demands. Perhaps we could all take some advice from these blossoming fashionistas when it comes to matters of combining aesthetic and function in self-expression and wardrobe.
